You guys understand or am I making no sense? Sure you might be able to get the game at a cheaper price but then there is no guarantee the person is selling you a genuine key. The problem I see about them giving us steam keys that might complicate things is that you know there will be some ppl that will try to sell those extra keys, and sadly there are always ppl foolish enough to buy them. It's been done with other devs and their games before. Originally posted by J_wolfpawn:It would be a better option to link accounts instead of giving us keys. Or through Valve refusing to consider the option, because they would essentially be offering users products Valve never saw a % cut of the sales from, and as such feel no obligation to support. Either through lack of motivation and figuring anyone who really cares will just buy the game again and in the case of games like E:D instead just offering a Steam ID Game Account merge option in return for you paying twice for their game. Most larger studios with the additional budget and wider market appeal seem to struggle to do what these indie studios accomplished though. would you really go around handing it out to random people or selling it off?

Afternall if your Steam key is the same key as your own use copy. That said, quite a few tiny indie dev studios consisting of 1-5 people have organised distributing Steam keys to previous buyers for their games, and one project even worked with Valve to have all existing product keys be added to Steams database of keys so people could reuse their keys on Steam without having to work out a secondary distribution solution and the idea that people may take the 2nd keys and just sell them off to other people. we still wouldn't have access to download and play the game through Steam and utilise our Steam accounts on our end without buying the game a 2nd time.

Without the Key, Frontier could come up with all sorts of solutions to have Steam account IDs relate to Elite Dangerous Accounts.
#ELITE DANGEROUS DOWNLOAD BUNDLE LICENSE KEY#
The problem I see with just linking Steam accounts with our existing game accounts is that Steam kind of needs your Steam account to have a valid license key to allow you to download and access the client.
